Portfolio: Web Site Design and Maintenance

Ink Scribe Design creates and maintains web sites for a number of clients. To help keep development costs at reasonable levels and to empower clients with the tools to handle their own updates, many of the sites are created within the WordPress publishing platform, an open source solution. Other sites are developed with XHTML/CSS-based design. Some examples include:

This site was developed with a focus on simplicity, ease of use, and ease of updating by teachers, staff, and volunteers. The site design and content required meeting guidelines from the school system and from the International Baccalaureate Organization which is the magnet school's focus.

This site was developed in WordPress to empower RCMG volunteers and staff to maintain the content and streamline updates. A search engine-friendly rotating slider was used to highlight the full concert season. Ink Scribe helped RCMG migrate from a paid hosting company to using Grassroots.org to take advantage of their free hosting for non-profits.

Developed in WordPress, this site integrates with PayPal for donations and incorporates custom contact forms. ISD helped Race of Grace migrate to hosting through the Ramus project offered by the NC Conference and eliminate unnecessary hosting costs.

Developed in WordPress, this is the second UMF website handled by Ink Scribe Design. In this version, planned giving content from an outside firm is integrated seamlessly into the design. Ink Scribe serves as site webmaster.

Developed in WordPress, Ink Scribe collaborated with the Camp & Retreat Ministry tech team to integrate social networking content, key information about Camp & Retreat Ministry, and updates from the RSS feeds from the individual camp websites. Ink Scribe serves as site webmaster.

Written using XHTML/CSS, the goal for this site is to present the core information about this non-profit in a simple, easy to use format. The site integrates with PayPal and is hosted with Grassroots.org - which offers free hosting for non-profits. Ink Scribe serves as site webmaster.

This WordPress-based site was integrated with iContact for email subscriptions and PayPal for donations. The Center closed in mid-2011 and the site is no longer active.

Limited by budget constraints, this non-profit did not have a web presence. Using WordPress so that staff can make their own updates, Ink Scribe developed this site with attention to visual accessibility issues. While overall design was kept simple, standard and high contrast versions of the site are offered for users of differing visual acuity. Coding choices were made to improve the site experience for Internet screen readers used by persons who are blind. The site integrates with PayPal and is hosted with Grassroots.org - which offers free hosting for non-profits.

Using XHTML/CSS, this site is developed to present a large quantity of data, which was traditionally printed in a book, through a streamlined web format accessed via CD or from the NC Conference website.
